Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide equipment for supplying a controlled amount of nitrogen monoxide almost directly into an airway of a patient without premixing with a breathing mixture, oxygen, only in an exhalation period. CONSTITUTION: A tube or a mouthpiece 2 of a breathing device 1 is connected to a vial 8 of a gaseous mixture in which nitrogen monoxide is housed by means of a conduit 10 having an electromagnetic valve 18. The valve is controlled by signals which express supplies 7, 15, 12 of a breathing mixture flow from the breathing device 1. This equipment is controlled in such a way that a gaseous mixture containing 21-100% of oxygen and 10-50ppm of nitrogen monoxide is supplied by exhalation.
