Abstract:
To provide an ester compound degrading method that can degrade an ester compound efficiently into a hydroxyl group-bearing compound, and a method for producing a hydroxyl group-bearing compound that can improve the yield of a hydroxyl group-bearing compound.SOLUTION: An ester compound degrading method has a degradation step for degrading, in coexistence with a solvent, raw materials containing an ester compound having an ester structure, obtained by dehydration condensation of an organic acid and a hydroxyl group-bearing compound.
