To provide a falling object catching net which is easily handled and reliably catches a falling object during a column lifting operation.
This falling object catching net includes a base 110 secured to a columnar object 10, a mounting belt (a first mounting belt 172) for mounting the base on the columnar object, a plurality of arms (a first arm 122 and a second arm 124) rotatably supported on the base, a main net 140 installed on a plane formed of the plurality of arms, and an auxiliary net 160 which is disposed above the main net, connected to near the front ends of the plurality of arms, and attached to the columnar object. The shortest distance between the side of the main net apart from the columnar object and the columnar object is 50 cm or shorter. The auxiliary net is formed into a generally trapezoidal shape in which the tangents of the auxiliary net on the columnar object passing through the connected points thereof to the arms form both sides, and the side of the columnar object side is wrapped around the columnar object.
