An imaging device includes an imaging optical system having a plurality of lenses; an imaging element for imaging a subject image; angle speed detecting means; acceleration detecting means; a principal point position deriving means for deriving a position of a principal point; moving means for moving the acceleration detecting means to stop at a position having the shortest distance from a position of the derived principal point, when the position of the principal point changes according to the movement of the lenses; shake amount deriving means for deriving shake amount on the basis of a rotation radius of angle shake generated by rotations of an optical axis, by using the detected angle speed and the acceleration; and correcting means for correcting camera shake on the basis of the derived shake amount.
