Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field type discriminating apparatus capable of discriminating a field type regardless of the frequency of the horizontal synchronizing signal of an input video signal.
SOLUTION: The field type discriminating apparatus for discriminating the field type of the input video signal is provided with: a delay circuit for delaying the vertical synchronizing signal of the input video signal; a frequency discriminating circuit for measuring the frequency of the horizontal synchronizing signal of the input video signal; a means for controlling the delay time of the delay circuit on the basis of the frequency of the horizontal synchronizing signal of the input video signal; and a circuit for discriminating the field type on the basis of a phase relation between the vertical synchronizing signal outputted from the delay circuit and a signal synchronized to the horizontal synchronizing signal of the input video signal.
