To provide couplers (10a, 10b) for a filter element of a spiral membrane having a spiral membrane surrounded by a lap at a lengthy hard outer side.
The coupler is provided with: a central support (12); a plurality of spokes (20) outwardly extending from the central support; and a rim (22) connected to the spoke, and a surface of the rim is perpendicular to an axis of the hard lap. The rim is characterized by a channel (28) on a surface for receiving a compressive seal (25), and the two couplers are mounted to the lap at the outer side. The seal is positioned on the channel, and when a pair of aligned fasteners is mounted to respective receptacles, the two filter elements are opposed to each other and are connected and bonded. The illustrative embodiment of the coupler, the filter element and a filter apparatus is provided, and a related method is also provided.
