Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a filtering medium capable of collecting fine particles smaller than the mesh diameter and resistant to clogging owing to the utilization of the ionic particle adsorption by crosslinking a photo-crosslinkable PVA having a specific photosensitive group and attaching the crosslinked PVA to a filter medium.
CONSTITUTION: A crosslinked PVA produced by crosslinking a photo- crosslinkable PVA having a photosensitive group containing a quaternarized aromatic nitrogen-containing heterocyclic residue (preferably the photosensitive group of the formula, etc.) is attached to a filter medium in an amount of 0.1-1wt.% based on the filter medium material. The ratio of the photosensitive group capable of adsorbing negatively charged particle is preferably 0.5-10mol% based on the monomer unit of PVA and the ratio of OH capable of adsorbing positively charged particle is ≥60mol% based on the monomer unit of PVA. The filter medium for supporting the crosslinked PVA is preferably melt-blown nonwoven fabric, etc.
