Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which can prevent the fixing belt from emitting smoke or burning, by preventing the fixing belt from reaching the temperature at which the belt emits smoke.
SOLUTION: This fixing unit has a fixing belt 1, an exciting coil 31 to heat this fixing belt 1 by the magnetic flux, a ferrite core 32 to wind this exciting coil 31, and a heater 33 for heating this ferrite core 32. This ferrite core 32 has a Curie temperature between the fixing temperature of the belt 1 and the smoke starting temperature of the fixing belt 1. The temperature of the fixing belt 1 is suppressed by heating the ferrite core 32 with the heater 33 to set the temperature at the Curie temperature, before the temperature of the fixing belt 1 reaches the smoke starting temperature.
