To easily calibrate and inspect an image reader which reads fluoroscopic images by placing on a fluorescent screen a phosphor layer, containing phosphors which are excited by laser of a specific wavelength and emit fluorescence evenly.
A substrate 3 made of acrylic resin is formed on a support 2 made of polyethylene terephthalate, a phosphor layer 4 is formed on the surface of the substrate 3, and a protective layer 5 is also placed on the layer 4. The phosphor layer 4 is formed by applying a liquid to the surface of the substrate 3 and drying it. The liquid is made by adding particles of YaG:Ce, a methyl ethyl ketone solution of polyurethane resin, epoxy resin of a bisphenol A type and carbon black, for example, to methyl ethyl ketone, dispersing then, and dissolving the mixture. The phosphors used in this screen are excited by a laser beam, whose wavelength is 470 nm to 480 nm or 530 nm to 540 nm and emit fluorescence evenly.
