Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form a water repellent film excellent in adhesion to a glass substrate and resistant to alkali, and also having high water-repellency.
CONSTITUTION: A solution formed by blending Si(OR)4, a substituted silicon alkoxide whose part of alkoxyl group is substituted by a fluoroalkyl group having a branched chain with an alcohol, water and an acid or a base is applied on a glass base board and calcined. As the formation of micelle is prevented by a steric hindrance of the branched chain, the fluoroalkyl group is utilized efficiently and so the water repellency corresponding to an added amount of the substituted silicon alkoxide can be obtained.
