To provide a fuel cell system which can restrict the power generation output according to a permissible power output, which can be generated in a stable condition at a time of slowdown of a vehicle, or the like.
The fuel cell system can control an amount of power generation or the like of a fuel cell installed in a vehicle of which the power source is a fuel cell and has a demanded power amount calculation means, a target operating condition calculating means and an operating condition detecting means. A power generation amount deciding means decides power generation amount, based on the relation between the power generation amount which is a demanded power amount corrected, according to a corrected power amount and a permissible power generation amount, through a power generation correcting means and a permissible power generation deciding means. As a result, this fuel cell system can prevent deterioration of a fuel cell due to gas shortage and instability of a cell voltage, which occurs when the demanded power amount is changed from a heavy load to a low load and when a power generation is increased by a corrected power generation amount.
