To provided a fuel filter which reliably prevents the leakage of unfiltrated fuel residing in a space between a filter element and the inner wall of a case through an outlet hole caused by the removal of a mounting bolt.
The filter element 41 is contained in a bottomed case 21 through an upper end opening apart from the inner wall of the case, the upper end opening and a cover member 31 are closed, and assembling is carried out in a way that a mounting bolt 51 liquidtightly inserted through the cover member and the filter element is fastened against a female screw 73b of the case bottom. The fuel inlet pore 23a is formed in either of the case or the cover member. A fuel outlet hole 26 is formed by the female part, and an oil passage 51a through which the internal part of the filter element and the outlet hole are intercommunicated is formed in the internal part of the mounting bolt. A valve 71 engaged with the tip of the mounting bolt for opening during securely fastening the mounting bolt, and disengaged therefrom for closing during the removal of the mounting bolt is situated in the outlet hole.
