To provide a fuzzy controller for activated sludge treatment which is capable of controlling a measured DO value and measured MLSS value with optimum values by applying these values to fuzzy control thereby preventing the degradation in treatment and method for the same.
A flow passage for guiding inflow water to an aerator 12a from a first settling basin 11 in treating sewage in the first settling basin 11 and admitting the treated water into the aerators 12a to 12f is provided with a UV meter 13 an a flowmeter 14 for measuring an inflow water flow rate. The organic matter concentration measured by the UV meter 13 and the inflow water flow rate measured by the flowmeter 14 and inputted to a blast rate fuzzy control section 15. The measured value obtained by measuring the DO concentration in the aerator 12f by a DO meter 16 is supplied to the control section 15. The blast rate fuzzy control section 15 controls a blower 17 by using the three measured values and varies the blast rates to the aerators 12a to 12f. The blast rates are controlled in the manner described above, by which the water is maintained within the DO concentration range and is released as the treated water through the final settling basin 18. A this time, a means for returning the return sludge from the final settling basin 18 to the aerator 12f by using a pump 19 is adopted.
