To provide a gate valve installing method and a gate valve installation structure used for such gate valve installing method which simplify an installing operation of a gate valve while preventing attachment portions between a casing and a valve cover from enlarging.SOLUTION: A gate valve installing method includes a first process of attaching a casing 3 and an operation valve to a fluid pipe, a second process of boring a through-hole onto the fluid pipe by opening and closing the operation valve and a third process of attaching a valve cover 4 containing therein a valve body to the casing 3 by performing opening and closing operations of the operation valve. In the third process, an insertion process of inserting a valve cover side bayonet pawl part 141 into a fitting groove part 144 through a pawl insertion part 143, and inserting the valve body of the valve cover 4 into a valve cover fitting port part 26, on a valve cover detaching position on which the valve cover side bayonet pawl part does not interfere with the casing side bayonet pawl part 142, and a rotation process of rotating the valve cover 4 for the casing 3 in such a state that the valve cover side bayonet pawl part 141 is fit to the fitting groove part 144, and engaging the valve cover side bayonet pawl part 141 and the casing side bayonet pawl part 142 so as to prevent slipping in a valve body insertion direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
