Abstract:
A roundness gauge, is pref. for measurement of cross-sectional contours of heat exchange U-tubes in the region of the bend. It is designed for more accurate operation than current test devices and to be simpler to construct and operate. Long tubes may be easily positioned by insertion from the side without needing to be guided through apertures. A measurement plate (4) with a hole (3) for the tube has a measurement transducer (5) connected to a distance indicator (2). When the plate is rotated about the tube axis the indicator shows deviations of the tube cross-section from a circle. The plate is in two parts (4a, 4b) for tube insertion and has rigid clamps (9, 10, 11).
