To provide a transmission belt excellent in dimensional stability under sever bending travels in the presence of high temperature, water and oil, and having good toughness for sustaining a tensile strength, wherein the transmission belt is prepared by forming glass fibers for reinforcing rubber by coating glass fiber cords with a glass fiber-coating liquid, and drying the coated glass fiber cords to form coated layers, then embedding the glass fibers in a hydrogenated nitrile rubber which is a base material rubber.
The glass fiber 6 for reinforcing rubber is prepared by forming a primary coating layer containing a phenol compound-formaldehyde condensate selected from monohydroxy benzene-formaldehyde condensates or chlorophenol-formaldehyde condensates and acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer on a strand prepared by bundling a plurality of glass fiber filaments, and disposing a secondary coating layer containing a chlorosulfonated polyethylene, organic diisocyanate compound and zinc methacrylate on the primary coating layer. For durability, a vinyl pyridine-styrene butadiene copolymer and a chlorosulfonated polyethylene are added to the primary coating layer.
