Abstract:

To provide a convenient and effective method for synthesizing a functionalized olefin copolymer having performance superior to a commercially available grafted functionalized olefin copolymer.

The new highly grafted functionalized olefin polymer dispersing agent contains a reaction product obtained by a method including a reaction of an acylation agent with a mixture containing an olefin polymer having a number-average molecular weight of about 5,000 to about 100,000 and a diluent in the presence of a free radical initiator to obtain an acylated olefin polymer and a reaction of the olefin polymer with a polyamine to obtain the grafted functionalized olefin polymer dispersing agent. The invention further provides a composition containing a concentrated lubricating oil and the highly grafted functionalized olefin polymer and a method for the use of these materials.
