PURPOSE: To obtain a photosensitive high chloride tabular grain emulsion having physical stability protected from fog and a harmful change in photosensitivity at the time of aging.

CONSTITUTION: This photosensitive high chloride emulsion contains a mercapto- heterocyclic nitrogen compd. (A) having a mercapto group bonding to a C atom bonding to adjacent N atoms in the hetero ring, a quat. arom. chalcogen azolium salt (B) whose chalcogen is S, Se or Te, triazole or tetrazole (C) having ionic H bonding to an N atom in the hetero ring, a dichalcogenide compd. (D) contg. a bond represented by the formula -X-X- (where X is divalent S, Se or Te) between C atoms, an org. compd. (E) having a thiosulfonyl group represented by the formula -SO2SM (where M is a proton or a cation), a mercuric salt (F) or a quinone compd. (G) as a photographic stabilizer.
