Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the leaking out of a high pressure residual fuel from a fuel injection valve when an engine is stopped, in a high pressure fuel injection device for internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel feed pump 6 which pressurizes the fuel up to the feeding pressure at the former stage of a high pressure supply pump 4 is stopped instantly when an engine 1 receives a stopping operation, and thereby, the feed pressure of the fuel to be the discharge pressure is reduced rapidly. By utilizing such a performance, a pressure relief valve 13 is opened by the extinction of the feed pressure of the fuel when the engine is stopped. As a result, the high pressure residual fuel in a storing means of the high pressure fuel (a high pressure piping) 3 is discharged to a relief chamber 18, and the pressure is lowered to a specific low pressure. Consequently, a fear of generating a trouble by the leaking out of the high pressure residual fuel from a fuel injection valve 2 into a cylinder is eliminated. Since the fuel feed pump 6 is driven during the operating period of the engine 1, and the feed pressure is applied to a pressure receiving chamber 17 constantly, the pressure relief valve 13 is maintained in the valve closed condition.
