Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-water-content nonallergic lanolin by treating lanolin or wool grease with a chromatographic column packed with an adsorbent and collecting specified fractions.

CONSTITUTION: This lanolin does not include free alcohols and has a hydroxy ester content of 10wt.% or above, a water content of 100wt.% or above, and an aliphatic αβ-diol content of 0.15wt.% or below. It is produced by treating lanolin or wool grease with a chromatograhic column packed with an adsorbent to remove free alcohols and part of nonhydroxy fatty acids and to concentrate hydroxy esters.
