Title:
HYDROGEN STORAGE ALLOY AND NICKEL-HYDROGEN BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2015113522
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage alloy which is not only free from rare earth elements, cobalt, magnesium, and aluminum, but also has battery characteristics equal to or better than a general-purpose AB-type MmNialloy, and a nickel-hydrogen battery using the alloy as an anode.SOLUTION: An ABtype hydrogen storage alloy is provided which is represented by the general formula ZrTiNiMnV(where a to e represent atom ratios of each element), where the a is 0.63-0.73, b is 0.27-0.37, and a+b=1; and the c is 1.16-1.20, d is 0.49-0.53, and e is 0.19 to 0.23; and it is preferred that the crystal structure is composed of Laves phase of C-14 type and C-15 type and a proportion of the C-15 type is in the range of 10 to 60 mass% of the Laves phase. The nickel-hydrogen battery is also provided which uses the hydrogen storage alloy as an anode.
