Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silane compositions that exhibit hydrolysis resistance over a wide pH range, particularly, such hydrolysis resistant silanes having hydrolysis resistance in the pH range from about 2 to about 12.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a composition comprising a silane having the formula: (R)(R)(R)Si-R-Si(R)(R)(R), where R, R, R, Rand Rare each independently selected from the group consisting of 1 to 6 hydrocarbon radicals, aryl, and a hydrocarbon group with 7 to 10 carbon atoms having an aryl group; Ris a hydrocarbon group with 1 to 3 carbon atoms; Rcomprises an anionic, cationic or zwitterionic substituent.
