Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the new compound which inhibits the biosynthesis of choles terol and is useful for treating hyperlipemia, atherosclerosis, ras-related tumors or the like.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I [R2-R4 are each H, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, metal ion or the like; R1 is lipophilic group having at least 6-carbon atoms], e.g. (E,E)-[1-(ethoxyphosphinyl)-6,10,14-trimethyl-5,9,13- pentadecatrienyl]phophonic acid(diethylester), is obtained, e.g. by reacting the compound of formula II (M is alkali(earth) metal ion) with the compound of formula III, and then hydrolyzing the resultant compound of formula IV.
