The image read system includes an MFP (multifunction peripheral) having a scanner function and a terminal making communication with the MFP via a network. The terminal has scan history information registering a read state in past scan operations of a user on the MFP. The MFP transmits user information of the user starting a scan operation to the terminal (S12). The terminal refers to the scan history information on the basis of the user information received from the MFP and searches past fault information of the user (S21). The terminal transmits the information in response to the searched fault information to the MFP (S22). The MFP displays a guidance on the basis of the received information (S13).
