To remove waste ink so as not to lower ink absorbing performance of an ink absorbing member 40 in a flash part over a long period of time.
When a carriage 5 is moved in a direction shown by an arrow C, a pair of pressing parts 48 provided to protrude downward pushes a rotary shaft 47a at both ends of a roller 47 against biasing force of a coil spring 50 in the direction shown by the arrow C. Upward movement is regulated at a part of the rotary shaft 47a by a middle part 49a of a guide rail 49, and a lower surface of the roller 47 pushes a surface of the ink absorbing member 40 to compress the ink absorbing member 40 in thickness. A portion where ink has become like a solid on the surface of the ink absorbing member 40 is crushed by rolling operation of the roller 47, and also the roller 47 moves while squeezing the waste ink accumulated in the ink absorbing member 40. The squeezed waste ink is discharged through a liquid droplet guide groove 43, a flow groove 44 and a discharge groove 45. When the carriage 5 returns in a direction shown by an arrow D, it performs action such as squeezing by biasing force of a pair of coil springs 50.
