Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmitter and an image transmission method by which the deterioration of image quality is automatically checked by a receiver side image transmitter. SOLUTION: For example, in the case of the image transmitter for transmitting digitized and compressed video signals between broadcast stations, the image transmitter 1 at a transmitter side is provided with a means that inserts independent image information with an error check code added thereto to a part in transmitted image information that is identified by a receiver side image transmitter, and the receiver side image transmitter 20 is provided with a means that separates the independent image information from the received image information and stores the separated information and a means that checks deterioration in the image by comparing reproduced image information with corresponding independent image information. The deterioration in the image quality is automatically checked without relying on man-hours by comparing the reproduced image signal with the inserted independent image information.
