Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a long-lived catalyst having a high dimensional stability and a small water permeability by reinforcing the cation exchange membrane with one woven fabric consisting of folded yarns of bulking-processed glass long fibers.

CONSTITUTION: In cases where working temperature and current density are high for the electrolysis of sodium chloride, a crylonitrile, etc., the cation exchange membrane used is reinforced with one woven fabric consisting of the folded yarns of bulking-processed long fibers. Thus, the cation exchange membrane having sufficiently high dimensional stability even during the periods of manufacture and electrolysis, small water permeability, and a long-lived durability can be obtained.
