Title:
INFRARED LIGHT DETECTING ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04357420
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make an infrared detecting element inexpensive and highly sensitive by providing an infrared stimulating phosphor in front of a photodetecting part of an Si photodetector. CONSTITUTION:This infrared detecting element is constituted of an infrared stimulating fluorescent body 1 and an Si photodetector 2. The fluorescent body 1 is sensitive to and detects the infrared light of 1.3mum, 1.55mum bands of an infrared light source used in the optical communication. The light in the bands is converted to a visible light of the sensitivity wavelength of the detector 2 by the fluorescent body 1 and efficiently detected by tone detector 2. In this manner, the incident infrared light can be detected with good sensitivity because it is converted to a visible light, within the fluorescent body 1 and detected by the detector 2. Fluorescent powders are dispersed in an organic binder and, then applied and dried on a glass substrate thereby to obtain the fluorescent body 1. The glass substrate is bonded to the photodetecting part of the detector 2 in a direction in which the fluorescent surface is in touch with the photodetecting surface.
