To provide an ion tophoretic administration device equipped with electrode assemblies which are rapidly hydrated before wearing on a body though initially manufactured in a non-hydrated form.
An electrically driving ion tophoretic drug administration device 10 includes: (i) electrode assemblies 8, 9 with reservoirs 15, 16 suitable for including a drug to be dosed through the surface of a body, the reservoirs 15, 16 includes substantially not hydrated hydratable matrix; (ii) a sealed container including liquid 20 for hydrating the reservoirs 15, 16, at least a par of a wall of the container comprises a liquid impermeable substance; (iii) a fluid guiding means accompanying the container for a guiding a flow of the liquid discharged from the container to the matrix in the non-hydrated reservoir.The device 10 includes a tab with a part attached to the liquid impermeable substance. When the tab is drawn against the liquid impermeable substance, the liquid impermeable substance is torn or broken and the liquid is discharged from the container into the reservoir matrix.
