Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve work efficiency at the joining of shield segments and to ensure the roundness of an assembled segment ring.
CONSTITUTION: A protrusion 12 and a recess 13 are formed on each of the circumferential end surfaces 20, 21 of a segment 10. A recess 13' adapted to be engaged with the protrusion 12 and a protrusion 12' adapted to be engaged with the recess 13 are formed, respectively, on the end surface 20 of a segment 11 to be joined to the segment 10. The protrusion ha a contour that is complementary to the recess, so that when they have beer joined together, there is no slip between the end surfaces, thereby ensuring the roundness of the segments.
