Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a laser pulse oscillator capable of easily generating short pulses of a certain specific repetitive frequency in higher harmonic forced mode synchronization.
CONSTITUTION: This laser pulse oscillator consists of a looped rare earth added fiber 1 interposed with an optical coupler 3 for coupling exciting light and an optical branching device 4 for outputting light pulses. The laser pulse oscillator which outputs the light pulses of the repetitive frequency of integer times the basic frequency corresponding to the loop length of the rare earth added optical fiber 1 from the optical branching device 4 by higher harmonic mode synchronization is provided with an optical modulator 6 set with the modulation frequency so as to be made integer times the basic frequency and an optical modulator 10 set with the modulation frequency so as to be made integer times the modulation frequency of the optical modulator 6 on the rare earth added optical fiber 1. The light pulses of the repetitive frequency coinciding with the modulation frequency of the optical modulator 6 are outputted via the optical branching device 4.
