To provide a compact and highly sensitive light receiving device capable of reducing a height of a lens having excellent condensing efficiency, directional characteristics, and high condensing ability to a light receiving element, and capable of suppressing collection of useless stray light.
The light receiving device includes the light receiving element and a multifaceted lens for condensing external light to the light receiving surface of the light receiving element. The multifaceted lens has, at least, a first lens surface located at the center of the multifaceted lens, a second lens surface located along the outer periphery of the first lens surface, a first tilted surface interposed between the first and second lens surfaces for connecting both, and a first dent formed in the vicinity of a boundary between the first lens surface and the first tilted surface having the boundary as the bottom. In addition, the multifaceted lens is structured to directly receive, on the entire surface of the first lens surface, the external light incident at an angle with respect to a center axis formed by connecting the center of the first lens surface, and the center of the light receiving surface of the light receiving element free from interference of other components except the first lens surface.
