Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector and a projection video display apparatus capable of displaying a plurality of videos, making speckles inconspicuous, and downsizing an optical system.SOLUTION: A projector 20 comprises: an optical element 50 including a plurality of light diffusion elements 55-1 to 55-3 capable of diffusing light; an irradiation device 60 irradiating the optical element with a plurality of reproduction illumination rays La1 to La3 and scanning the reproduction illumination rays across the light diffusion element; spatial light modulators 30-1 to 30-3 illuminated with the reproduction illumination rays incident on the light diffusion elements from the irradiation device and diffused by the light diffusion elements, respectively; and projection optical systems 25-1 to 25-3 projecting modulation images obtained on the spatial light modulators onto corresponding screens, respectively. The reproduction illumination rays incident on and diffused by the light diffusion elements are illuminated on the respective corresponding spatial light modulators while being superimposed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
