To obtain a rigid liquid crystal module with which the relaxation of the degradation in the display grade is possible, the display capacity is large and the effective display surface is wide with respect to the surface area of the module by disposing a sheet material consisting of a good thermal conductor covered with an insulator across the wire-shaped light source of the liquid crystal module and a light transmission plate.
A liquid crystal cell 1 includes a driving element substrate 2 for driving liquid crystals connected to its periphery. The driving element substrate 2 is constituted by connecting a common terminal, power source, etc., to a circuit board, such as printed circuit board. A sheet material 7 is disposed across the wire-shaped light source 6 and the light transmission plate 5 and is so positioned as to extend to the position of the wire-shaped light source 6 only in part of the rear surface of the light transmission plate 5. The good thermal conductor of the sheet material 7 has the relatively large area and its thickness is thin. In addition, the sheet material is covered with the insulator and, therefore, specified heat migration occurs according to the temp. gradient in the sheet material 7 and the transfer of the heat generated from the wire-shaped light source 6 to the outside in the largest quantity at about the center of the light transmission plate 5 is possible.
