To provide a luminescent material having improved temperature stability and related long fluorescence lifetime.

A luminescent material expressed by experimental formula M'aM"b(Si1-zGez)c(Al, Ga, In)d(Sb, V, Nb, Ta)eO(a+b+2c+3d/2+5e/2-n/2)Xn:Eux, Ry has a long fluorescence lifetime. In the formula, M' is one or more kinds of elements selected from Ca, Sr, Ba and Zn; M" is one or more kinds of elements selected from Mg, Cd, Mn and Be; R is one or more kinds of elements selected from La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Bi, Sn and Sb; X is an ion selected from F, Cl and Br; 0.05≤a≤8; 0≤b≤5; 0<c≤10; 0≤d≤2; 0≤e≤2; 0≤n≤4; 0<X≤0.5; 0<y≤0.5; and 0≤z≤1.
