CONSTITUTION: This embodiment is substantially represented as a general formula: (R1xR2yCozFe1-x-y-z)100-uAu (in which R1 shows a rare earth element containing Y, containing at least one kind selected from La, Ce, Pr, Nd and Sm at an atomic ratio 55% or more, and R2 shows an element of at least one kind selected from Zr, Hf and Sc, and A shows an element of at least one kind selected from N, C and P, and x, y, z and u are numbers satisfying 0.02≤x≤0.2, 0.001≤y≤0.2, 0.04≤x+y≤0.2, 0≤z≤0.5, 0.1≤u≤30 atom%). Further, the main phase has a Th2Ni17 type crystal structure, and this embodiment is a magnetic material suitable for a permanent magnetic material.
