PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent runnability, stability, durability, antistatic property and light shieldability by using carbon black and pulverous powder of a resin insoluble in org. solvents as a filler for a back coat layer.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic layer is provided on one surface on a nonmagnetic base and the back coat layer contg. the filler dispersed in a binder contg. a radiation curable resin is provided on the other surface. The carbon black and 2W20wt%, by the weight of the carbon black, pulverous powder of the resin insoluble in org. solvents are compounded at 50W300pts.wt. ratio with 100pts.wt. binder. Thermal black having 60W200μm average grain size is preferable as the carbon black. Since the resin powder which does not require org. solvents is used together with the carbon black as the filler for the back layer, the runnability, stability and durability are improved in addition to the decrease of the coefft. of friction and the good conductivity and light shieldability intrinsic to the carbon black coated film.
