Abstract:
To provide a method for producing an R-T-B based sintered magnet capable of increasing the utilization efficiency of a diffusion material for a sintered body.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing an R-T-B based sintered magnet which comprises: a step of preparing a workpiece of a powder sintered body of an alloy for an R-T-B-based sintered magnet; a step of cutting the workpiece to divide the workpiece into a plurality sintered body pieces; a sintering step of sintering each of the plurality of sintered body pieces to prepare a plurality of sintered body materials; a step of bringing a powder of a diffusion source containing R into contact with the top face and bottom face in the thickness direction in each of the sintered body materials to perform a heat treatment and diffusing at least a part of R contained in the powder of the diffusion source from the top face and the bottom face to the inside of each sintered body material; and a step of cutting each sintered body material from the top face to the bottom face to divide it into a plurality of sintered body pieces.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
