To provide a map display device capable of reducing the possibility of erroneous recognition of a reachable range.
The map display device 1 displays, on a map, the range reachable within a prescribed amount of time from a prescribed position as a base point. A control section 70 of the map display device 1 comprises: a search means (a route search section 71), a representative point extraction means (a representative point extraction section 72), and a display means (an isochrone drawing section 73). The search means searches the amount of time required from the base point to a plurality of points on the map. The representative point extraction means which extracts, when an out-of-reference-time closest point β that is the point closest to the base point among the points whose amount of time required that is searched by the search means exceeds the prescribed time exists in each of the areas obtained by dividing the map into a plurality of areas through dividing the azimuth around the base point, the point not exceeding the linear distance Dβ between the out-of-reference-time closest point β and the base point as a representative point. The display means superposes an isochrone connecting the representative points on the map and displays it.
