Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled material useful for the preparation of molded articles from a biodegraded product by extrusion molding of a starch-containing composition comprising a starch, a starch hydrolysis product having a specific DE value and a specific starch degradation product.
CONSTITUTION: A starch-containing composition containing a starch [e.g. corn (maize) starch, potato starch, tapioca starch or the like] and preferably 1-30 wt.% of a starch degradation product selected from the group consisting of starch hydrolysis products preferably having a DE value of 2-20, oxidized starches and pyrodextrins, is extruded to obtain the aimed material. And the composition preferably contains up to 10% of water and 10-30% of a plasticizer (e.g. pentaerythritol or the like).
