Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of particles having ultrafine rugged shape and being usable as matrix promoting laser desorption ionization, and a mass spectrometry using the particles.SOLUTION: An ultrafine rugged surface of a particle is used as a nanoscale reaction field for holding, rapid heating, and ionizing of an analyte. The particle has an ultrafine rugged surface with a depth range of 1 to 20 nm, easily enabling a nano-level mixed state of the analyte only by applying the analyte on the particle surface. Further, laser radiation onto nanocrystals surrounding the particle efficiently vaporizes and ionizes the analyte.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
