PURPOSE: To enable optimum heating of a food, by providing a meat probe for a microwave oven or the like with a food surface temperature sensor part and a food inside temperature sensor part, and simultaneously detecting the surface temperature and the inside temperature of the food.

CONSTITUTION: When a metallic rod 2 of a probe 13 is driven into a food 12, an inside temperature detecting thermistor 7 reaches the central part of the food, whereas an annular metallic body 1 incorporating a surface temperature detecting thermistor 6 makes contact with the surface of the food. Therefore, the surface temperature and the inner temperature of the food are detected respectively by the thermistors 6, 7, and detection signals are inputted to a microcomputer (not shown), thereby controlling the supply of power to a heat source (not shown). with this construction, it is possible to optimize the surface and the inner temperatures of the food and to enhance the finishing of the food.
