To obtain a metal honeycomb which is a metallic carrier for purification of exhaust gases having excellent thermal fatigue resistance and cost effectiveness by increasing the spacings between the non-contact parts of the corrugated structure of the non-contact parts with a flat planar bland material as far as possible.

The corrugated band material 2 viewed from the inflow and outlet of the exhaust gases has the corrugations of the crest height at which the band material comes into contact with the flat planar band material 1 at the ends of the corrugated band materials and near the same. The corrugated band material has the corrugations of the crest height at which the material does not come into contact with the flat planar band material 1 in the parts exclusive thereof. Even more, the corrugated structure of the crest height at which the corrugated band material comes into contact with the flat planar band material 1 is not to come into contact with the flat planar band material 1 by inverting the contact parts (peak parts and valley parts of the corrugations) and the parts near the same. If the non-contact parts are formed in such a hammer, the formation of fillet is prevented and the excellent metal honeycomb is obtd.
