Abstract:
PURPOSE: To uniformly distribute and mix reinforcing fibers into a molten resin by allowing the molten resin to flow down in a strip like state and distributing the reinforcing fibers to bond them to the strip like flow-down region to markedly increase the contact area of the reinforcing fibers with the molten resin.
CONSTITUTION: A molten resin 61 is downwardly emitted in a strip like state with definite width from the nozzle 6 provided to the emitting orifice 11 of a melt extruder to be allowed to flow down. The cross-sectional shape of a protective cylinder 14 is made similar to that of the molten resin 61 and a chute 141 of which the lateral Width coincides with the flow-down width of the molten resin is provided on the lateral side of the plane part of the flow- down molten resin 61 on one side of the protective cylinder 14. A roving cutter 3 is arranged above the chute 141 and the group of the reinforcing fibers L1 cut by the roving cutter 3 is allowed to fall on the chute 141. The reinforcing fibers L1 are distributed through the chute 141 to be mixed with the molten resin 61 and the molten resin 61 having reinforcing fibers L1 distributed thereto is charged in the charging port 21 of a screw injection machine 2.
