Abstract:
To provide a method for detecting a dental caries bacterium, by which each of the dental caries bacteria: Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) and Streptococcus sobrinus (S. sobrinum) can simply and quickly be detected in high accuracy.
The method for detecting the dental caries bacterium: S. mutans or S. sobrinum in an oral cavity comprises a process for preparing a DNA sample from a material collected from the oral cavity of a testee, a process for reacting the DNA sample with a primer set comprising primers having specific base sequences at a constant temperature for a constant time to amplify the target DNA, and a process for detecting the obtained amplified product.
