Abstract:

To accurately calculate a force or moment exerted on a tire when a camber angle is given.

A method for calculating the lateral force exerted on the tire when the camber angle is given to the tire rolling on a ground includes: a step of setting a value of camber rigidity parameter used in a tire dynamical model which can calculate the lateral force; and a step of calculating the lateral force in accordance with the tire dynamical model using the value of the set camber rigidity parameter and the given camber angle. The tire dynamical model uses a modified camber angle in which the given camber angle is modified in accordance with the lateral force when calculating the lateral force. Values of camber stiffness and lateral torsion rigidity are calculated by using the tire dynamical model. Further, a cornering characteristic or driving/braking characteristics under a condition where the camber angle is given are calculated by using the tire dynamical model.
