Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CHARACTER RECOGNITION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3444561
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform precise character recognition even if a handwritten character is inputted deviating from a standard form or if the number of its stroke deviates from the standard number of strokes.
CONSTITUTION: A stroke correspondence part 22 makes the respective strokes of an input character pattern in a stroke information input buffer 31 correspond to the respective strokes of a standard character pattern in a character recognition dictionary 41, a difference degree calculation part 26 calculates the degree of difference of a pair of strokes which are made to correspond to each other, and an object discriminating part 24 discriminates strokes having degrees of difference below a threshold value among the calculated degrees of difference and removes strokes which are inputted deviating from the standard form, and then an object stroke count part 25 counts the strokes having the degree of difference below a threshold value to find the number of object strokes, and a total difference degree calculation part 26 adds all the degrees of difference below the threshold value to find the total degree of difference. A recognition result operation part 2e regards a standard character pattern in the character recognition dictionary 31 which is large in the number of object strokes and small in total difference degree as a recognition result.
