PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent vent up from occurring by providing a nozzle with an aperture area satisfying a specified equation in a feed opening for a polymer compsn. in an apparatus wherein the polymer compsn. is fed from the feed opening for the polymer compsn. and volatile components are vented from an outlet for the volatile components and a polymer is obtd. from an outlet for the polymer.
SOLUTION: In a screw type devolatizing extrusion apparatus, a screw 2 is arranged in a hollow part 1a of a cylinder 1 and a feed opening 3 for a polymer compsn. provided with a nozzle 3a opening in the hollow part 1a of the cylinder 1 is provided on the side face of a shaft-sealed bearing part 2a side. On the other hand, a polymer outlet 4 is provided on the apex side of the screw 2 of the cylinder 1. In this case, the nozzle 3a is formed so as to have an aperture area satisfying an equation wherein &phiv is a polymer content in terms of wt. in the polymer compsn.; Q is amt. of feeding of the polymer compsn.; S is the aperture area of the nozzle 3a; H is depth of the channel of the screw 2; N is number of rotation of the screw 2; D is a diameter of the screw.
