To provide a method of drawing out work rolls and a work roll changing device which prevent an upper work roll from dropping out when drawing out upper and lower work rolls assembled in a rolling mill by supporting them in a cantilever manner with a porter eye.

In the method of drawing out the work rolls and the work roll changing device therefor, one of the upper and lower work rolls 21 has, on a drive-side work-roll chock 31, a drive-side work roll bender cylinder 1 for widening the interval between the upper and lower work rolls, the interval between the upper and lower work rolls is beforehand widened by extending the drive-side work roll bender cylinder 1 before drawing out the work rolls, the work-side distal ends 28 of the upper and lower work rolls are inserted into the supporting holes 13 of the porter eye by moving the porter eyes 12, next, hydraulic pressure of the drive-side work roll bender cylinder 1 is released and, after supporting the upper and lower work rolls with the porter eye 12, the rolls are drawn out on the work side.
