In the method for managing the dynamic range of the radiation image, a contrast expansion factor having a value depending on the signal of a context image at a related pixel position is applied to the context component and the detailed component of the image to process the acquired image. In the method, a signal represented with a gray level or a dose in the case of acquisition is converted into a thickness radiation image and processed. In the end of processing, the dynamic range of the processed image is reset particularly by compression to correspond to the dynamic range of a radiation apparatus. If desired, respective factors are corrected for the functions selected by the user.
